Albanese Government Considers APS Staffing Levels Ahead of Budget
The Albanese government is currently seeking savings in preparation for its upcoming federal budget.
The government has not dismissed the possibility of reducing Australian Public Service (APS) headcounts.
Despite this, its stated position is that the public service currently maintains an "about the right size," with an average staffing level (ASL) recorded at approximately 213,000 in the March budget.
