The Australian children's music group The Wiggles has issued a statement following the appearance of two of its members in a music video for Keli Holiday's song, "Ecstasy." The video, which has since been removed from TikTok, featured Blue Wiggle Anthony Field and his nephew Dominic Field, who plays the Tree of Wisdom, dancing in the background. The video was viewed more than 92,000 times prior to its removal, according to Australian media.
The Wiggles' Statement
A spokesperson for The Wiggles stated that the group "does not condone" the use of drugs "in any form." The group clarified that the video content was not created or approved by them and that they had requested its removal. In a statement to The West Australian newspaper, The Wiggles further explained, "While Keli Holiday is a friend of The Wiggles, the video and the music added to it were created independently and without our knowledge."
Video Context
Musician Keli Holiday, whose real name is Adam Hyde, had shared the clip on TikTok with the caption "The Wiggles get it," intended to promote his new single "Ecstasy." The song's chorus lyrics include: "Hey girl, come on dance with me. You and your pocket full of ecstasy."
The clip was reportedly filmed at the TikTok Awards earlier this month, where members of The Wiggles appeared on stage with Holiday during his performance of a different song, "Dancing2." A spokesperson for The Wiggles told The West Australian that the band's performances at the awards had been "family-friendly" and that the video had been "edited together separately and without our awareness."
Background
Anthony Field is a founding member of The Wiggles, which was created in 1991 and has become an international phenomenon among young children. He is the only original member still with the group. Keli Holiday is the solo project of Adam Hyde, who is also known as one half of the electronic dance duo Peking Duk. The BBC has contacted Holiday's management for comment.
