GTA 6 Price Speculation Heats Up After Retailer Listing

Speculation regarding the launch price of Grand Theft Auto 6 emerged after a third-party retailer, Loaded (formerly CDKeys), briefly listed the game online. The listing displayed prices of £89.99 for Xbox Series X and Series S, which converts to approximately A$175–A$185. A separate listing for PC appeared at £60.99, or approximately A$120–A$130.

Following the appearance, the listings were updated to "notify" status, indicating the figures are likely placeholders rather than confirmed retail prices.

Official pricing has not been announced by Rockstar Games or its parent company, Take-Two Interactive.

Platform Uncertainty

Grand Theft Auto 6 has only been officially confirmed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The presence of a PC listing has prompted further discussion about a potential PC release after the console versions, consistent with past Rockstar titles.

Industry Context

Analysts have indicated that GTA 6's pricing could be high due to substantial development costs, which are estimated to be between US$1–2 billion (A$1.5–A$3 billion). Increased development expenses, inflation, and expanding online services are factors contributing to rising game prices globally. For comparison, Grand Theft Auto V launched in 2013 at approximately A$99 in Australia.

Retailers frequently upload estimated pricing ahead of major releases for internal system preparation or to gauge interest.

Official pre-order pricing is expected to be announced in the coming months, as marketing efforts are anticipated to intensify mid-year. The game is currently scheduled for release on November 19, following prior delays.
