Actor Bobby J. Brown, Star of The Wire, Dies at 62 in Tragic Barn Fire

The actor, best known for playing Officer Bobby Brown on the HBO series The Wire, died from injuries sustained in an accidental barn fire.

His daughter confirmed his death occurred on Tuesday. The Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death as diffuse thermal injury and smoke inhalation, determining the manner of death to be an accident.

The fire originated after Brown entered a barn to jump-start a vehicle. He later contacted a family member requesting a fire extinguisher. By the time family members arrived, the barn was engulfed in flames.

Beyond his pivotal role on The Wire, Brown’s acting career also included notable appearances in "Law & Order: SVU" and the HBO limited series "We Own This City."
