Bulldogs Duo Set for AFL Debut

Lachie Jaques and Michael Sellwood are scheduled to make their AFL league debuts for the Western Bulldogs this Saturday night. The match will be against Brisbane in the Opening Round, with the announcement following their participation in the Dogs' pre-season practice matches.

Pre-Season Performance

During the AAMI Community Series win over Hawthorn, Jaques recorded 16 disposals and five marks. Sellwood collected 13 disposals and four marks in the same match, highlighting their strong form leading into the season.

Hearing the News

The players were informed of their selection after Wednesday's training session. Both expressed their excitement for the upcoming opportunity.

"I had 'Bundy' (Anthony Barry) all of last year in the VFL as my backline coach, so to hear it from him was pretty special. I'm stoked to get the call-up."
– Lachie Jaques

"I just can't wait - I'm so grateful for the opportunity. Hopefully we can get the win."
– Michael Sellwood

Pathway to the Bulldogs

Jaques was selected with Pick 29 in the 2024 National Draft. Sellwood joined the team via last year’s Mid-Season Rookie Draft.

The complete Western Bulldogs team for the Opening Round is expected to be confirmed at 6:20pm AEDT on Thursday night.
