MLB Spring Breakout: Yankees Announce 2024 Roster

The MLB's annual Spring Breakout event is set to take place. Now in its third year, this event showcases rosters composed exclusively of each team’s prospects. It provides a unique opportunity for young talents to demonstrate their abilities on a larger stage.

The Yankees have officially unveiled their roster for the 2024 Spring Breakout. They are scheduled to face the Braves on March 21st at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

The Yankees' Spring Breakout roster includes nearly all notable prospects in their system, with every player ranked above rookie ball on MLB Pipeline’s Top 30 list making the squad, save for Rule 5 draftee Cade Winquest.

Key Prospects Featured

Among the key prospects highlighted on the roster are George Lombard Jr., Elmer Rodríguez, and Carlos Lagrange. Lagrange, a right-handed pitcher, particularly shined at last season's Spring Breakout. He previously retired 11 consecutive batters and impressively showcased a 100-mph fastball. Ranked 19th on the Yankees’ prospect list, Lagrange is now considered a significant talent within the organization.

Additional Talent and Pitching Prospects

The roster also features other promising candidates, including right-handers Ben Hess and Bryce Cunningham, who were the Yankees’ first two picks in the 2024 draft.

Henry Lalane, a 6-foot-7 left-handed pitcher, is another notable inclusion. He has demonstrated upper 90s velocities following previous shoulder issues. Pitching prospect Chase Hampton is also participating in the event, marking his return after recovering from Tommy John surgery.
