Brodie Kostecki secured the Larry Perkins Trophy and assumed the Supercars championship lead following a weekend of racing at the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit, which included a multi-car incident in one of the races. Kostecki achieved three victories and one second-place finish across the four races held during the event.

Race Two: Kostecki's Initial Victory

Brodie Kostecki won the second Supercars race by 0.5713 seconds over Matthew Payne after 19 laps. Ryan Wood finished third, marking Toyota's first Supercars podium in its fifth race.

Payne, who started from pole position, led the initial laps before Kostecki overtook him at Turn 11 on Lap 5 to take the lead.

Incidents during Race Two:
  • Zach Bates' #10 Matt Stone Racing Camaro spun at Turn 3 following contact involving Jayden Ojeda and Jobe Stewart.
  • Will Brown's #888 Triple Eight Race Engineering Mustang locked its rears, causing Cooper Murray's #99 Erebus Motorsport Camaro to go off-track at Turn 11 on Lap 1. Brown received a 15-second penalty, dropping him to 20th, while Murray finished one lap down.
  • On Lap 4, contact between Broc Feeney's #88 Triple Eight Mustang and Chaz Mostert's #1 Walkinshaw TWG Racing Supra at Turn 11 allowed Aaron Cameron's #3 Blanchard Racing Team Mustang to pass both. Mostert dropped from fourth to seventh and sustained steering damage.
  • Jayden Ojeda moved up eight positions to 15th by the race's midpoint, while Cooper Murray dropped 13 positions to 19th.
  • On Lap 10, Feeney's #88 Mustang made contact with Cameron's #3 BRT Mustang, resulting in both spinning after an interaction with Kai Allen's #26 Grove Racing car. Cameron later returned to the pits with exhaust damage, two laps down. Feeney subsequently lost positions to Jack Le Brocq and Cameron Waters.
  • Ryan Wood maintained third position despite going off-track between Turns 9 and 10.
  • Cameron Hill's #14 Brad Jones Racing Supra made contact with Will Brown's #888 Triple Eight Mustang, leading to smoke from Brown's car.
  • Macauley Jones' #96 Brad Jones Racing Supra went off at Turn 11 following contact from Jobe Stewart's #9 Erebus Camaro, which was pushed by David Reynolds' #20 Team 18 Camaro. Stewart finished 22nd with damage.
Driver Statements (Race Two):

Kostecki attributed his success to his team and the performance of his Ford Mustang, stating he had pace over Payne and capitalized on opportunities.
Payne expressed disappointment in not converting pole position into a win, noting his car felt "under done" early and he lacked the pace to counter Kostecki's move. He added that the car's balance improved later in the race, but he felt the outcome was decided after Kostecki's overtake.

Final Race: Larry Perkins Trophy and Championship Lead

In a subsequent race, Brodie Kostecki secured his third victory of the weekend, along with the Larry Perkins Trophy and the Supercars championship lead. Kostecki overtook pole-sitter Will Brown on the penultimate lap. Thomas Randle finished third, followed by Jack Le Brocq.

Multi-Vehicle Incident Mars Opening Lap:

The race commenced with a multi-vehicle incident in the opening corner. At least 10 cars were involved in collisions, leading to the retirement of incumbent championship leader Broc Feeney and two other drivers before the second turn.

The sequence of events included:

  • Contact between Ryan Wood and Kai Allen off the grid.
  • Kai Allen was then tagged by Macauley Jones.
  • Jones's vehicle made contact with the rear-right of Feeney's car, causing a wheel to detach and Feeney's car to collide with other vehicles across the track.
  • Cooper Murray then collected Feeney, followed by Zach Bates also colliding with Feeney.
  • Separately, David Reynolds was spun by Rylan Gray, impacting both drivers' races.
Kostecki's Decisive Performance:

Despite starting fourth, Kostecki advanced through the field, passing Aaron Cameron and overtaking Thomas Randle. Championship contender Matt Payne experienced a front-right tyre puncture, dropping him to 20th position. Aaron Cameron's race was affected when Chaz Mostert forced him into the pit lane.

Kostecki's decisive overtake on Will Brown occurred at Turn 11 on the penultimate lap, where he feigned an overtake, causing Brown to lock up, before shifting to the inside to take the lead. This performance occurred despite Kostecki experiencing illness earlier in the weekend.
