Fatal Altercation Outside Mernda Railway Station

One person has died following an altercation that occurred outside Mernda railway station in Melbourne's north-east.

Police responded to reports of groups of individuals fighting on Bridge Inn Road at approximately 5:50 PM on Friday. Upon arrival, officers discovered one male who was unconscious and had sustained serious injuries.

Paramedics attempted resuscitation, but the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Homicide Squad detectives have commenced an investigation into the incident. The police investigation is ongoing.
