A mother and daughter died in northern Oklahoma due to severe storms and a tornado. The tragic incident occurred on Thursday night near Fairview, approximately 100 miles northwest of Oklahoma City, according to Danny Giager, Fairview's emergency management director.

The fatalities occurred as severe storms and a confirmed tornado swept through northern Oklahoma, claiming the lives of a mother and daughter who were driving near Fairview.

Incident Details

The deceased individuals were driving when the incident occurred on State Highway 60 and 243, located west of Fairview.

The National Weather Service in Norman, Oklahoma, confirmed a "dangerous" tornado traveled through northern Oklahoma towards the Kansas border.

NBC affiliate KFOR reported that the tornado touched down near Helena, Oklahoma City, causing damage.

Local footage from Thursday night clearly showed a large funnel cloud west of Fairview.

Continuing Weather Threat

Severe thunderstorms and flash flooding were anticipated for parts of the Plains and Midwest on Friday and into Saturday.

Predicted threats for the coming days included hail exceeding 2 inches, winds up to 75 mph, and the potential for additional tornadoes.

Major population centers at risk from the severe weather included Tulsa, Kansas City, St. Louis, Peoria, Des Moines, and Oklahoma City.

Severe conditions were projected to extend from southeast Texas to Mississippi and the eastern Great Lakes on Saturday.
