Arrest of Interpol-Wanted Individual in India
An individual identified as Yangchen Lachungpa, wanted by Interpol for alleged involvement in the trafficking of tiger body parts, has been apprehended in India.
Lachungpa was detained earlier this week. She is accused of establishing and facilitating trafficking routes for tiger parts from India.
Lachungpa was listed on Interpol's most-wanted register. Her bail application was denied during a court hearing on Thursday.
Wildlife officials have stated that this arrest represents a significant development in efforts to combat poaching within India. Arrests of women in connection with the illegal trade of animal body parts are uncommon.
