Stadium Brawl Mars Broncos' Defeat

Incident Details

Vision circulating online depicted a physical altercation involving several individuals, both men and women, at Suncorp Stadium following the Penrith Panthers' 26-0 victory over the Brisbane Broncos on Friday night. The footage showed three men engaged in a fight.

A female Broncos supporter was observed kicking a Panthers fan. Efforts were made by other individuals to de-escalate the situation, with one person heard calling for the fighting to stop. The initial scuffle reportedly led to additional smaller altercations.

Club Response

The Brisbane Broncos released a statement on Saturday afternoon acknowledging the incident. The club condemned the behavior shown in the online footage, stating it was "disappointing" and did not align with the Broncos' values or the spirit of the game's supporters.

The statement emphasized that rugby league is a family-oriented sport and anti-social behavior would not be tolerated.

The Broncos warned that those involved face "significant sanctions," potentially including long-term bans from attending NRL matches.

Suncorp Stadium management and Queensland Police reportedly addressed the incident at the time and are conducting further investigations, with the Broncos offering support for appropriate action.
