President Trump to Attend Dignified Transfer for Six Fallen Soldiers
President Donald Trump plans to be present at Dover Air Force Base on Saturday for the dignified transfer of six US soldiers killed in the Middle East. The dignified transfer is a formal ceremony for returning the remains of US service members who have died in action. During his first term, Trump referred to witnessing such transfers as one of his most challenging duties as president.
President Trump's Statement
On Friday evening, President Trump stated on his social media platform:
"I will be going to Dover Air Force Base tomorrow, with the First Lady and Members of my Cabinet, to pay our Highest Respect to our Great Warriors, who are returning home for the last time. GOD BLESS THEM ALL!"
Six Army Reservists Identified
The deceased service members were identified as Nicole Amor, 39; Cody Khork, 35; Robert Marzan, 54; Jeffrey O’Brien, 45; Noah Tietjens, 42; and Declan Coady, 20. All six were members of the Army Reserve, specifically from the 103rd Sustainment Command, based in Des Moines, Iowa.
They were killed by a drone strike at a command center in Kuwait. This incident occurred one day after the US and Israel initiated a military campaign against Iran.
The Dignified Transfer Ritual
During the dignified transfer ritual, transfer cases, draped with the American flag and containing the remains of the soldiers, are moved from the military aircraft to a waiting vehicle. This vehicle transports them to the mortuary facility at the Delaware base for preparation for their final resting place.
