The core issue lies with the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) within the infotainment system. This component may overheat, leading to a failure of the rearview camera image when the vehicle is in reverse.
Ford is addressing this by providing a complimentary software update for the APIM. This crucial update can be performed either at a dealership or conveniently via an over-the-air (OTA) update. Second Recall: Inverted Camera Displays
