Newsmax Hosts Correct On-Air Report of February Job Gains to Reflect Job Losses

During a broadcast on Newsmax's "Wake Up America," co-host Sharla McBride initially reported that the U.S. economy had added 92,000 jobs in February, a figure also displayed on screen. Her co-host, Marc Lotter, interjected to correct this, stating that the U.S. had actually lost 92,000 jobs. McBride attributed the error to the show's script.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) report for February confirmed a loss of 92,000 jobs.

Furthermore, December's job numbers were revised downward by 65,000 positions, leading to an actual loss of approximately 17,000 jobs for that month.

Following the release of this data, financial markets experienced a downturn. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped approximately 900 points, while both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq indices declined by about 1.6%.

The unemployment rate also saw a slight increase, rising from 4.3% in January to 4.4% in February.

Potential Job Losses in Healthcare Sector

A Forbes article published on Friday suggested potential future job losses in the healthcare sector. This sector, which has historically added jobs, could be significantly impacted.

Projected Medicaid spending cuts of approximately $1 trillion over the next decade, associated with President Donald Trump’s "Big Beautiful Bill," may lead to hiring freezes or staff reductions in healthcare facilities.
