Brad Rimmer's 20-Year Documentation of Western Australia's Wheatbelt Halls

Photographer Brad Rimmer has documented the small halls of Western Australia's wheatbelt region over a period of 20 years. These structures previously served as vital social centers for isolated farming communities, facilitating gatherings, celebrations, and mourning events.

In 1954, Rimmer's parents reportedly met at one of these halls. Over time, many towns in the agricultural region have experienced decline, with some disappearing or seeing a reduction in youth and opportunities.

Of the halls that remain, few are currently used for their original purposes. Some have been repurposed, while others have been abandoned and are in a state of decay.
