Burst Main Halts Water Supply for 20,000 on Sydney's North Shore
Over 20,000 properties across Sydney's North Shore are experiencing disrupted water supply due to a burst main, which has also resulted in flooding and murky water entering Sydney Harbour.
Widespread Disruption and Incident Location
Water supply has been severely affected across Sydney's North Shore following a burst pipe. The incident, currently being addressed by Sydney Water personnel, involves a burst main located on Grasmere Road in Cremorne, near Primrose Park.
Residents in a number of suburbs have reported significant issues. Cremorne, Mosman, North Sydney, Crows Nest, Artarmon, Chatswood, Roseville, and Lindfield are all experiencing reduced or no water supply.
Sydney Water's Response and Public Advisory
A Sydney Water spokesperson has confirmed that crews are actively working on isolating the main. The primary goal is to restore pressure and supply to all affected suburbs and customers as quickly as possible.
To facilitate these crucial repair operations, motorists have been advised to avoid the intersection of Grasmere Road and Young Street in Cremorne.
Local Flooding and Environmental Impact
Beyond the immediate water supply issues, the burst main has led to other significant problems. Flooding has occurred in residential areas due to the volume of water released.
Of particular concern is that water from the incident has flowed towards Primrose Park and subsequently into Sydney Harbour. Sydney Water has issued an apology for the inconvenience caused to the community, requesting patience during the ongoing restoration efforts.
