Latetia Bobo, a 33-year-old eighth-grade English language arts teacher, was identified as one of two fatalities in a mass shooting that occurred at a Downtown Oakland bar. The incident took place at EZ’s Lounge, located at 412 14th St.
Victim Details
Bobo taught at Caliber: Beta Academy in San Pablo. Caliber Public Schools confirmed her death on Sunday.
A statement from the school described Bobo as a valued member of their community, noting her dedication to students, families, and colleagues.
The second fatality was identified as an unidentified 25-year-old man who died at a hospital. Bobo died at the scene.
Police Response
Oakland Police Department (OPD) officers responded to EZ's Lounge shortly after 3:30 a.m. on Saturday following reports of the shooting. Seven individuals were found injured at the scene.
OPD officers detained several people and recovered multiple firearms at the location. The department has not publicly confirmed any arrests directly related to the shooting.
