Lightning-Sabres Game Sees Eruption of Penalties and Altercations

First Period Events

Lightning forward Brandon Hagel initiated contact with Sabres forward Tage Thompson after a whistle, leading to an altercation. During this incident, Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin and Lightning defenseman Darren Raddysh fought. Hagel received a minor penalty for boarding.

Shortly after, Sabres player Sam Carrick and Lightning player Scott Sabourin engaged in a fight. Less than 30 seconds later, Hagel and Sabres player Peyton Krebs fought. Bowen Byram and Charle-Edouard D'Astous were assessed 10-minute misconducts and roughing penalties during this sequence.

Just four seconds later, Sabres forward Beck Malenstyn and Lightning forward Corey Perry also fought. At 3:35 into the second period, Brandon Hagel engaged with Rasmus Dahlin and threw punches, resulting in Hagel being assessed a double minor penalty for roughing.
