Former Mayor Arrested Amidst Political Designation

The arrest of a former mayor in March last year coincided with his designation as the leader of the CHP and its presidential candidate for 2028.

A former mayor was arrested in March last year. This event coincided directly with his designation as the leader of the main opposition party, CHP, and its presidential candidate for the 2028 elections.

He has been detained at the Marmara prison complex since his arrest. His trial is also scheduled to occur within the same complex, where he currently remains incarcerated.
