BMW Unveils Australian Pricing for New iX3 Electric SUV

BMW has announced Australian pricing for the new iX3 electric SUV, the initial model in its 'Neue Klasse' series. The 2026 iX3 will launch in Australia in a single 50 xDrive trim grade, featuring dual motors, priced from $109,900 before on-road costs. Additional battery and motor configurations are planned for early next year.

The iX3's pricing is positioned below direct competitors such as the Audi Q6 e-tron quattro, Porsche Macan 4, Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor, and Genesis Electrified GV70, which range from $120,000 to $140,000 before on-road costs. The Cadillac Lyriq is currently the lowest-priced option among these vehicles.

The new iX3 is priced $5000 higher than the outgoing model's top-tier, single-motor variant.

A New Era for BMW

The new iX3 initiates a new generation of BMW vehicles, incorporating significant changes in technology, design, and production processes. All iX3 ‘Neue Klasse’ models feature BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology, which offers increased power, efficiency, range, and a higher charging rate.

Powertrain and Range

The 50 xDrive variant features a dual-motor electric powertrain, delivering 345kW and 645Nm, connected to a 108kWh battery. It features an 805km WLTP-tested driving range, which is the highest among new vehicles currently available in Australia. Its 800V electrical system supports DC fast-charging up to 400kW.

One of the iX3’s four high-performance computers, referred to by BMW as ‘superbrains’ and designated ‘Heart of Joy’, manages drivetrain and driving dynamics. BMW states this system processes information up to 10 times faster than standard control units.

Revolutionary Interior Technology

The interior design differs from previous BMW models, introducing BMW Panoramic iDrive and a minimalist aesthetic. A 43.3-inch BMW Panoramic Vision display extends across the windscreen's base, projecting driving information within the driver’s field of view. Content on the display's center and opposing side is configurable via touchscreen. An additional head-up display provides information above this display.

A 17.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, powered by BMW Operating System X, serves as the iX3's control center.

Future Models & Expansion

At launch, only the 50 xDrive will be available. An entry-level, rear-wheel drive iX3 40 is expected next year, potentially followed by an iX3 M60 model. A quad-motor iX3 M variant is reportedly under development, with an unspecified launch timeline.
