Stolen Cavoodle Dora Reunited with Owners After Melbourne Theft

A 10-month-old cavoodle puppy named Dora, stolen from outside a Melbourne shopping plaza, has been reunited with her owners. The incident occurred on Monday in South Yarra, leading to a police investigation, the recovery of the puppy in Noble Park, and the arrest and interviewing of two women, with a search ongoing for a third individual.

Dora has since been returned to the Wong family, uninjured.

The Theft Incident

On Monday, approximately 3:25 PM, Dora, a 10-month-old cavoodle, was reportedly taken from outside the Vogue Shopping Plaza at 670 Chapel Street, South Yarra. Her owner, Frank Wong, had secured her to a pole while he was grocery shopping. Police Sergeant Ryan Gilmore stated that the incident appeared opportunistic.

Witnesses and CCTV footage indicated that three women untied Dora and left the location with her. The trio was last seen heading north on Chapel Street towards Richmond. Dora, described as a 10-month-old cavoodle, was wearing a pink collar and leash and is microchipped.

Police Investigation and Recovery

Following the theft, Victoria Police launched an investigation and issued images of the three women they wished to interview, along with a photograph of Dora. The women were described as Caucasian, aged in their 20s to 30s, with long brown hair. Specific descriptions included:

  • One woman wearing a grey crop top and black pants.
  • A second woman wearing a dark tracksuit and a Nike T-shirt.
  • A third woman wearing dark jeans and a dark-colored hoodie.

Police appeals for information led to developments. Victoria Police subsequently located Dora at a residence in Noble Park, approximately 30 kilometers from the initial theft location in South Yarra. Upon recovery, Dora was reported to be uninjured.

Arrests and Ongoing Search

In connection with the incident, a 19-year-old woman was arrested at the Noble Park home where Dora was found. A 27-year-old Richmond woman later surrendered to a police station. Both individuals are currently being interviewed by police.

Authorities have stated that the search for a third woman involved in the incident is ongoing.

A Happy Reunion

Dora has since been returned to the Wong family.
