Flood Emergency Warning Issued for Chinchilla and Warra
The Western Downs Regional Council has issued a flood emergency warning for residents in Chinchilla and Warra, Queensland. Major flooding is anticipated at Charleys Creek in Chinchilla.
Chinchilla Faces Major Flood Threat
Floodwaters are expected to commence between 3pm and 6pm on Tuesday, with a peak projected for midday on Thursday.
Some homes in Chinchilla are likely to be affected, and residents are advised to prepare to evacuate immediately.
Warra at Risk of Overnight Flooding
Further, the township of Warra, located north-west of Dalby, is at risk of flooding around midnight tonight, which may lead to highway closures.
An emergency warning has also been issued for Warra residents to prepare.
Residents in both areas are encouraged to stay with family or friends if possible and to monitor the disaster dashboard for continuous updates.
Western Downs Mayor Andrew Smith confirmed that no evacuation centers have been opened in the region at this time.
