Essendon Set to Debut Three Highly Anticipated Draftees
Essendon is scheduled to debut three draftees – Dyson Sharp, Max Kondogiannis, and Huss El Achkar – in their upcoming match. The players will make their first appearances at the elite level.
The 2025 draft class has demonstrated strong performances during the pre-season, including in hitouts against Richmond and St Kilda.
Player Profiles
Dyson Sharp
Sharp, an in-and-under midfielder, previously captained SA and achieved 27 disposals and five tackles per game over four appearances in the National Championship last year.
He has shown clean hands and a willingness to engage in contests during Essendon's match simulations.
Max Kondogiannis
Kondogiannis, a rangy aerialist with speed, earned his debut after a solid pre-season and an appearance against the Saints. He averaged nearly 19 disposals per game in his top-age season with Vic Metro and the Oakleigh Chargers.
His skills include intercept marking, anticipation, composure, and an ability to attack from half-back.
He recorded a 6:26 two-kilometer time trial and a 2.94-second 20-meter sprint at the Combine.
Huss El Achkar
El Achkar, a small forward from the James Hird Academy, previously played for Calder Cannons and recorded a six-goal haul against Sandringham last season.
Essendon matched Richmond's bid for him at pick No. 53 last year.
He also impressed with a three-goal performance in a VFL appearance.
