Galatasaray secured a 1-0 home victory over Liverpool in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 fixture. Mario Lemina scored the decisive goal with a header in the seventh minute, assisted by Victor Osimhen from a corner.

During the match, Galatasaray goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili made several crucial saves. Victor Osimhen later had a goal disallowed after the hour mark, identified as offside in the build-up by Bariş Alper Yilmaz.

Liverpool created chances later in the game, with Galatasaray keeper Uğurcan Çakir making a save to deny Hugo Ekitike's effort. Liverpool also had a goal ruled out in the 70th minute following a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review, with the ball reportedly striking Ibrahima Konaté's hand. The second leg is scheduled for March 18.
