Nicole Kidman Discusses Return to 'Practical Magic 2'

Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman has discussed her decision to return for "Practical Magic 2," nearly three decades after the original film's release. The sequel is scheduled to be released in theaters on September 11, 2026, by Warner Bros.

Kidman cited her desire to work with Sandra Bullock again as a primary motivation for the project. She noted their strong working relationship and 'incredible chemistry,' highlighting their complementary production styles, with Bullock being hands-on and Kidman preferring to delegate.

As a producer for the film, Kidman confirmed that a significant change she implemented for the sequel was to ensure that a female director would lead the project. Susanne Bier, an Academy Award-winning filmmaker, is directing the movie.

Original writer Akiva Goldsman and Georgie Pritchett are writing the screenplay for "Practical Magic 2," which is based on Alice Hoffman's 2021 novel "The Book of Magic."

Alongside Kidman and Bullock, the cast includes Joey King, Lee Pace, Maisie Williams, Xolo Maridueña, and Solly McLeod. Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing will reprise their roles as Aunt Jet and Aunt Franny from the original film. The sequel is being produced by Kidman, Bullock, and Denise Di Novi.
