UNICEF Warns: Middle East Conflict's "Catastrophic" Impact on Children

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has issued a stark warning regarding the significant impact of the Middle East conflict on children, describing the situation as "becoming catastrophic."

Since February 28, the agency reported that over 1,100 children have been either injured or killed in the violence.

Rising Child Casualties Across the Region

Specifically, this includes 200 children reportedly killed in Iran, 91 in Lebanon, four in Israel, and one in Kuwait. UNICEF indicated that these figures are likely to increase as the conflict continues.

Beyond the immediate casualties, millions of children in the region have been out of school, and a substantial number have been displaced by continuous bombardment.

UNICEF emphasized that severe violations against children during armed conflict can constitute breaches of international law. The organization reiterated the Secretary-General’s call for diplomatic negotiations among the involved parties.
