Prince William has released a video message commemorating the 125th anniversaries of the Royal Australian Navy and the Royal Navy Submarine Service, marked on March 11, 2026.

As Commodore-in-Chief of the Royal Navy Submarine Service, William specifically recognized the dedicated service of submariners in both the UK and Australia.

He extended well wishes to both navies for their 125th birthday, acknowledging their crucial role in safeguarding shared values, peace, and security. He also highlighted their significant contributions and defense of Commonwealth partners during the two World Wars.

AUKUS Partnership and HMS Anson's Arrival

This anniversary year is notably marked by a significant development for the AUKUS partnership: the arrival of the British nuclear-powered submarine HMS Anson in Australia. This visit signifies a key achievement.

The purpose of HMS Anson's presence is to develop the skills and systems essential for Australia to eventually operate its own conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarine capability. Australian-designed uncrewed undersea vessels (LUUVs) are also an integral part of this ongoing development.
