Thailand Demands Apology from Iran After Ship Incident in Strait of Hormuz

Thailand has requested an apology from Iran following an incident in which a Thai-flagged cargo ship, the Mayuree Naree, was struck and damaged in the Strait of Hormuz.

The vessel caught fire after being hit, and three crew members were reported missing. Precious Shipping, the ship's Thai-listed operator, stated that the missing crew were "believed to be trapped in the engine room."

Diplomatic Protest and Call for Clarity

Thailand's foreign affairs ministry raised its concerns during a meeting with Iran's ambassador to Thailand. The ministry conveyed a "strongest protest" regarding the incident.

Thai authorities formally requested that Iran issue a statement of apology and provide clarification regarding the facts of the incident.

Additionally, Thailand urged all involved parties to exercise restraint, engage in diplomatic dialogue, and ensure the safety of civilians.
