Labrinth's Instagram Statement on Music Industry and "Euphoria"

Musician Labrinth made a statement on Instagram on Thursday night, expressing strong sentiments regarding the music industry and the HBO series “Euphoria.” Labrinth, widely recognized for composing the score for "Euphoria," shared a stark message on his platform.

“I’m done with this industry. Fuck Columbia. Double fuck ‘Euphoria.’ I’m out. Thank you and good night x.”

Context and Industry Ties

Labrinth is currently signed to Columbia Records. The label released his album “Cosmic Opera Act 1” in January.

Since its first season in 2019, he has served as the composer for Sam Levinson’s series “Euphoria.”

Prior Announcements and Composer Role

It was previously announced that acclaimed composer Hans Zimmer would also join as a composer for the upcoming third season of the series. The third season is set to premiere on April 12.

At the time of Zimmer's announcement, Labrinth had issued a statement saying, “Another chapter in the ‘Euphoria’ universe! So great to join Hans, one of my heroes in film score, and bring some new magic to this new season. Love x.”

Responses and Impact

Representatives for Labrinth, HBO, and Columbia Records did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding his recent Instagram post.

The comments section of Labrinth’s post quickly garnered attention, receiving support from other musicians. Notably, Kesha and Skylar Grey were among those who voiced their support.

Labrinth's work on the “Euphoria” score and soundtrack has been critically and commercially successful. Songs like “All for Us” and “Never Felt So Alone” (featuring Billie Eilish) have accumulated millions of streams and earned significant critical recognition. His contributions to the series also include a Grammy nomination.
