Capturing a Community: Viva Gibbs' North & West Melbourne Portraits
An exhibition showcasing the work of documentary photographer Viva Gibbs is currently on display at the City Gallery.
The exhibition, titled 'On the street where I live: Viva Gibb’s portrait of North and West Melbourne,' offers a compelling look at local history. It features portraits of residents from north and west Melbourne, vividly captured during the 1970s and 1980s.
The exhibition is free to attend and will be open until August 7.
Among the striking images on display, one highlighted photograph is 'Lolly seller,' taken in West Melbourne in 1985, offering a poignant glimpse into the everyday life of the era.
