SNL Sketch Features James Austin Johnson's Trump Addressing National Stability and Gas Prices

Saturday Night Live's recent opening sketch featured James Austin Johnson portraying "President Donald Trump" delivering a message regarding national stability. The sketch addressed public concerns about the potential domestic impacts of a hypothetical conflict in Iran and rising gas prices.

The SNL sketch tackled public anxieties concerning a potential conflict in Iran and the continuous rise in gas prices, all while featuring a familiar political impersonation.

The segment began with a family discussing the impact of high gas prices. The simulated Trump character then appeared, acknowledging past campaign promises such as lower gas prices and avoiding wars. He commented on the current cost of gas and the stock market's performance, humorously attributing the high prices to "The Epstein Files."

"President Trump" Addresses Economic Concerns

Later in the sketch, Colin Jost, portraying "Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth," joined the scene. The Hegseth character responded evasively when questioned about plans for Iran, explicitly stating he did not know. He also parodied a defense secretary expressing frustration over media coverage of a conflict. The fake Trump character subsequently re-entered, expressing agreement with this sentiment.
