NFL Free Agency: Key Players Still Unsigned After Primary Phase
The primary phases of NFL free agency have concluded, leaving numerous notable players unsigned across various positions.
While the period of significant spending has largely wrapped up, a wealth of talent remains available on the open market.
Wide Receivers
A notable cohort of wide receivers remains available as teams assess their rosters. Stefon Diggs, following a 1,000-yard season after returning from an ACL injury, was not retained by the Patriots and remains available. Jauan Jennings, who had a productive 2024 season, did not secure an extension with the 49ers and is currently unsigned. Deebo Samuel, previously a Pro Bowl and All-Pro player, is also a free agent. Other prominent receivers on the market include Tyreek Hill (recovering from a knee injury), Christian Kirk, DeAndre Hopkins, and Keenan Allen.
Running Backs
The running back position features several prominent options awaiting new contracts. These include Joe Mixon, Nick Chubb, Brian Robinson, A.J. Dillon, Raheem Mostert, Najee Harris, and Austin Ekeler.
Defensive Talent
On the defensive side, several impactful players are still on the market. Edge rusher Joey Bosa, who was effectively replaced in Buffalo, is seeking a new team. Future Hall of Fame linebacker Bobby Wagner remains unsigned. Edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney, a former first overall draft pick, is available. Veteran defensive end Cameron Jordan and linebacker Lavonte David are also free agents.
Quarterbacks
A significant list of quarterbacks is also available, including several with starting experience. Key quarterbacks still available include Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins, Russell Wilson, Jimmy Garoppolo, Joe Flacco, and Tyrod Taylor. The Cardinals and Steelers are currently identified as potential teams in search of a starting quarterback.
Further player signings are anticipated, though the period of significant spending has largely concluded. The pre-draft process now takes precedence for NFL teams.
