Gulden Sidelined for Four Months After Shoulder Surgery
Sydney Swans midfielder Errol Gulden is scheduled for shoulder surgery this week and is expected to miss approximately four months of the 2026 season. The club confirmed that Gulden sustained a dislocated shoulder during the round one match against Brisbane on March 14, 2026.
The 23-year-old's recovery timeline means he will be unavailable until at least July.
The injury occurred in the fourth quarter when Gulden was tackled by Lincoln McCarthy, leading to him being assisted from the field.
Prior Injury Concerns
Gulden had previously missed time in the 2025 season, returning in round 15 after an ankle injury sustained in a practice match.
Heeney Also Suffers Injury Scare
In the same round one fixture, fellow Swans midfielder Isaac Heeney also exited the game in the final quarter due to hamstring tightness. Coach Dean Cox indicated post-match that the injury would be assessed, emphasizing a cautious approach to avoid further risk.
