The tragedy in Jhansi is not an isolated incident. Additional fire occurrences in healthcare facilities across India highlight a recurring and critical safety concern.

In 2021, a fire at the ICU of Vijay Vallabh hospital in the western city of Virar led to the deaths of 13 patients who were undergoing treatment for Covid-19.

Another severe fire incident also took place in 2021, at a newborn care unit in Bhandara district, located in the western state of Maharashtra. This particular blaze tragically caused the deaths of 10 infants.
