Lava from the Piton de la Fournaise volcano on Reunion Island reached the Indian Ocean on Sunday, drawing attention from tourists and local residents.
This marks the first time lava from the volcano has reached the ocean in 19 years.
The volcano commenced its current eruption on February 13, marking its second eruption this year.
Two lava flows stemming from this activity have caused disruptions, including the closure of the national highway that links the island's south and east.
