On Wednesday morning, two four-story residential buildings collapsed in Fez, Morocco. The incident resulted in 22 fatalities and 16 injuries, according to state media reports citing local officials.
The collapsed structures, located in the Al Massira suburb within the newer section of Fez, were home to eight families. Several Moroccan news outlets have reported that the buildings had exhibited signs of deterioration for a period of several years.
Fez, situated in north-eastern Morocco, holds historical significance as one of the nation's oldest cities, with origins dating back to the 8th Century. It is also recognized as Morocco's third-most populous city.
