Project History and Funding
Construction of the Sagrada Família commenced in 1882. Architect Antoni Gaudí assumed control of the project in 1883, revising the original designs. Initial funding was provided by donations. Upon Gaudí's death in 1926, one of the eighteen planned towers had been constructed. Subsequent construction has been managed by the Sagrada Família foundation and financed through contributions from tourists, visitors, and private donors. The main building is anticipated to be completed next year.
