Netflix Unveils Scooby-Doo: Origins: A Modern Reimagining with a Real Dog

Netflix has announced the cast and production details for a live-action series titled Scooby-Doo: Origins, a modern reimagining of the classic mystery-solving franchise. The eight-episode series, currently in production in Atlanta, Georgia, is scheduled to premiere globally on Netflix in 2027.

This production marks the first time in the franchise's history that a real dog will portray Scooby-Doo.

  • Tanner Hagen as Norville "Shaggy" Rogers

The role of Scooby-Doo is being performed by a live, male Great Dane. The dog's name and age have not been disclosed by the production.

Plot Synopsis

Shaggy and Daphne become involved in a mystery concerning a lost Great Dane puppy that may have witnessed a supernatural murder. Velma, described as a pragmatic and scientific townie, and Freddy, a new arrival, join them to solve the case, which threatens to expose their secrets.
