Netflix has officially announced the primary cast members for its highly anticipated, untitled live-action "Scooby-Doo" series. The streaming platform has placed an order for eight episodes of the show, which is being developed as a modern reimagining of the classic mystery-solving group. Production is being handled by Warner Bros. Television.

Casting Details Revealed

The core cast for the upcoming series includes a mix of established and rising talent:

  • Fred Jones: Maxwell Jenkins, known for his role in "Lost in Space."
  • Norville “Shaggy” Rogers: Tanner Hagen, recognized from "The Pitt."
  • Velma Dinkley: Abby Ryder Fortson, also known for "The Pitt."
  • Daphne: Mckenna Grace, whose casting was previously announced and who is known for "Young Sheldon."

Series Premise

The logline for the series teases a fresh narrative arc for the beloved characters:

The series is set during the characters' final summer at camp. Shaggy and Daphne become entangled in a mystery involving a lost Great Dane puppy and a suspected supernatural murder. Velma, described as a pragmatic and scientific townie, and Freddy, a new arrival, join the investigation. Their efforts to solve the case not only aim to uncover the truth but also threaten to expose their own secrets.

A robust team of writers, showrunners, and executive producers is helming the project:

  • Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg will serve as writers, showrunners, and executive producers.
  • Additional executive producers include André Nemec and Jeff Pinkner (under their Midnight Radio banner), Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Leigh London Redman (via Berlanti productions), along with Adrienne Erickson and Toby Haynes.
  • Toby Haynes is also set to direct the inaugural episode.
