Roxburgh Park House Fire: Woman Rescued in Critical Condition

A house fire occurred on Correll Way in Roxburgh Park, Melbourne, at approximately 7:30 AM on Thursday. Two residents, aged in their late teens and early 20s, were alerted by a smoke alarm. After initial attempts to exit were unsuccessful, they contacted emergency services and escaped by breaking a front bedroom window. A third occupant, a woman estimated to be around 50 years old, remained inside the residence.

Critical Rescue Efforts

Fire crews entered the house and located the woman unconscious in a bedroom. Fire and ambulance crews performed resuscitation efforts, successfully restoring a pulse after approximately 25 minutes.

The woman was transported to the Alfred Hospital in critical condition. The two younger residents also received paramedic attention at the scene.

Damage and Ongoing Investigation

The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes of the rescue. The blaze caused extensive damage to one bedroom and the roof cavity, with the remainder of the home experiencing heavy smoke logging. Investigators from Fire Rescue Victoria and Victoria Police are determining the cause of the fire.
