Secretary Hegseth: Trump Will Block Iran's Nuclear Advance
US Defense Secretary Emphasizes Firm Stance on Iran
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has declared that President Donald Trump will not permit Iran to advance towards nuclear capabilities. This statement outlines a firm stance from the administration regarding Iran's nuclear ambitions.
This assertion from Secretary Hegseth follows previous claims made in June of the previous year, which stated that Iran’s development capability in this area was effectively neutralized during an event referred to as the "Twelve-Day War."
"President Trump would not tolerate Iran becoming closer to nuclear capabilities, which Hegseth noted Iran had previously indicated an intent to use."
Hegseth Details Iran's Intentions and Activities
Secretary Hegseth underscored the administration's resolve, asserting unequivocally that President Trump would not tolerate Iran nearing nuclear capabilities. Hegseth specifically highlighted that Iran had previously indicated an intent to use such capabilities, making the threat particularly serious in his view.
He further emphasized the critical importance of acknowledging and taking seriously the stated intentions of adversaries, particularly when they pertain to the acquisition of dangerous weapons. According to Hegseth, overlooking such explicit intentions would be a grave miscalculation.
Hegseth also suggested that Iran has been actively expanding its missile and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) programs, ostensibly to create a conventional defense framework. However, Hegseth implied that Iran might be operating under the assumption that President Trump would not take action if they attempted to reconstitute their nuclear program, a perception he appears to challenge.
