Dubai Air Defenses Intercept Projectiles Early Friday

Heavy explosions were reported in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, early Friday, as the city's air defenses intercepted incoming projectiles. A missile alert was issued prior to the interceptions. Authorities stated air defenses were activated to counter an Iranian barrage.

The Dubai Media Office, the government communications entity for the sheikhdom, confirmed the successful completion of all air interception operations, with no injuries reported.

The incident occurred as the UAE observed Eid al-Fitr, which marks the conclusion of the holy Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, and coincided with the day's first call to prayers from mosques.
