Iran Condemns UK Over US Base Use, Citing Danger to British Lives

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has strongly criticized the UK government, stating that its authorization for the US to use British bases for potential strikes on Iranian missile sites endangers British lives.

In a post on X, Araghchi asserted that "Iran will exercise its right to self-defense." He added that the "vast majority of the British People do not want any part in the Israel-U.S. war of choice on Iran."

"By allowing UK bases for actions against Iran, Keir Starmer is putting British lives in danger."

UK Confirms Increased Military Presence in the Region

Separately, the UK's Ministry of Defence confirmed that British aircraft are conducting air patrols over Jordan, Qatar, the UAE, and Bahrain to support allies. The Ministry noted that the UK currently has a higher number of jets flying in the region than in the last 15 years, with British pilots accumulating over 700 flying hours.

The UK has also deployed a small number of planners to US Central Command. Their role is to assist in developing options for enhancing security in the Strait of Hormuz.
