iOS 26.4 Introduces Ambient Music Home Screen Widgets

iOS 26.4 has introduced new Ambient Music widgets that can be added directly to the iPhone’s Home Screen. These innovative widgets are designed to provide convenient one-tap actions for music playback, making it easier than ever to set the perfect mood.

Designed for ultimate convenience, these widgets offer one-tap actions for music playback.

One-Tap Playback for Mood-Based Playlists

The new Ambient Music widgets allow users to initiate playback of up to four playlists categorized by specific moods with a single tap. This feature extends the Ambient Music functionality previously available in Control Center, bringing it directly to the Home Screen.

Widget Sizes and Configuration

The Ambient Music widgets come in two distinct sizes to suit user preferences and Home Screen layouts:

  • The smaller widget supports one customizable playlist, perfect for a primary mood.
  • The larger widget provides access to all four mood playlists, each with its own dedicated one-tap play button.

Customizable Mood Categories

Users have the flexibility to customize the mood categories associated with their widgets. The available mood options for customization include: Chill, Productivity, Sleep, and Wellbeing.

Flexible Playlist Selection

Users can select from Apple’s extensive library of built-in playlists for each mood, such as "Sleep Sounds" or "Piano Sleep" for the Sleep option. Furthermore, the widgets empower users to utilize their own custom playlists for a given mood by simply editing the widget settings. This flexibility ensures a personalized listening experience.

Apple Music Integration and Platform Limitations

All Ambient Music features are currently integrated exclusively with Apple Music.

This exclusive integration means Ambient Music widgets and their associated features are currently unavailable for Spotify users.
