House Oversight Committee Releases Additional Jeffrey Epstein Estate Photos
The House Oversight Committee has released approximately 70 photographs from the estate of Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender. This marks the third public disclosure of images from a collection exceeding 95,000 photos obtained from Epstein's estate. The release occurred hours prior to the December 19 deadline for the Department of Justice (DOJ) to provide all files pertinent to its investigation into Epstein.
Robert Garcia, the ranking member of the committee, stated that the images prompted further inquiries regarding the Department of Justice's holdings.
Contents of the Released Images
The newly released photographs include:
- Images of Epstein conversing with professor and activist Noam Chomsky aboard a private aircraft.
- A photograph of Bill Gates positioned beside a woman whose face is redacted.
- Steve Bannon seated opposite Epstein at a desk.
- Former Alphabet president Sergey Brin at a dinner event.
Previous photo releases by the House Oversight Committee have also shown figures such as US President Donald Trump, former President Bill Clinton, film director Woody Allen, former US Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, attorney Alan Dershowitz, and former Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. The committee notes that the presence of individuals in these photographs does not constitute evidence of wrongdoing, and many pictured individuals have denied involvement in Epstein's illegal activities.
Committee Statement and Depicted Material
In a statement accompanying the photo release, Democrats on the US House Oversight Committee indicated that Epstein's estate did not provide contextual information or timestamps for the pictures. The committee stated that photos were selected to offer public transparency into a representative sample of the estate's holdings and to provide insights into Epstein's network and activities.
The release also contains several photographs depicting quotes from Vladimir Nabokov's novel Lolita inscribed in black ink across various parts of a woman's body, including her chest, foot, hipbone, and back. Lolita is a novel about a young girl groomed by a middle-aged literature professor. One quote photographed on a woman's chest reads, "Lo-lee-ta: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth."
Additionally, the committee released numerous photos of redacted female passports and identification documents originating from countries such as Lithuania, Russia, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine. The House Oversight Committee stated in a press release that these documents belong to "women whom Jeffrey Epstein and his conspirators were engaging."
Another image shows Epstein seated at a desk, surrounded by three redacted female figures. One figure has her hand on Epstein's chest beneath his shirt, another is crouched looking at a nearby laptop, and Epstein appears to be assisting the third with a bracelet.
A further image released is a screenshot of text messages from an unidentified sender requesting "$1000 per girl" after having sent "some girls."
