View source

Incident Overview

Chappell Roan faced criticism from a Brazilian official following a reported fan interaction during her visit to São Paulo for Lollapalooza Brazil.

Allegations from Jorginho Frello

Professional soccer player Jorginho Frello stated that a security guard, allegedly at Chappell Roan's direction, reprimanded his 11-year-old daughter. Frello claimed his daughter, excited to see Roan at their hotel, merely looked at the artist during breakfast.

He reported that a security guard then approached his wife and daughter aggressively, accusing the child of "disrespecting" or "harassing" Roan.

Frello described his daughter as "extremely shaken and cried a lot" following the incident, criticizing the perceived lack of understanding towards fans.

Chappell Roan's Response

Chappell Roan addressed the situation on Instagram, denying the allegations. She stated, "I didn't even see a woman and a child. No one came up to me. No one bothered me."

Roan clarified that she did not ask security to intervene with any mother or child.

She expressed regret, saying, "I am sorry to the mother and child that someone was assuming something, that you would do something and that if you felt uncomfortable, that makes me really sad. You did not deserve that."

Mayor's Statement

Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere responded to the reports on X, stating that Chappell Roan was no longer welcome to perform in his city.

He wrote:

"as long as I'm in charge of our city - this young lady @ChappellRoan will never perform at Todo Mundo No Rio."
