Minecraft Dungeons II Officially Announced for Late 2024 Release
Minecraft Dungeons II has been officially announced for release later this year, promising an all-new action-RPG adventure within the beloved Minecraft universe. The announcement was inadvertently released early by a Gematsu social media post, preceding its formal reveal at Minecraft Live.
The game will be available on PC via Xbox and Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series consoles, including Xbox Game Pass. Developed by Mojang Studios and Double Eleven, and published by Xbox Game Studios, it expands the Dungeons series to a broad audience.
Minecraft Dungeons II is described as an all-new action-RPG adventure, featuring high-stakes encounters, challenging gameplay, and previously unseen locations within the Minecraft universe.
The game will also include significant loot collection and supports co-operative play for up to four friends. Mojang confirmed that Minecraft Dungeons II is a direct sequel to the original game.
The first Minecraft Dungeons, released in 2020, achieved significant success. It reached over 10 million players by February 2021 and an impressive 25 million players by April 2024. This success made it the most successful Minecraft spin-off to date. The original Minecraft game holds the record as the second best-selling game of all time, with 350 million sales, surpassed only by Tetris.
