Search and Rescue Underway After Fishing Boat Breaks Up Off Tasmania Coast
A fishing boat reportedly broke up in waters off Tasmania's north-west coast, resulting in a search and rescue operation.
Incident Details
Three adults and one child commenced a fishing trip yesterday and did not return to their campground at Montagu. Relatives reported them missing to police after 8 AM today.
Two adults and one child were located in the water at Robbins Passage around 1 PM on Sunday afternoon.
Rescue and Ongoing Search
The three rescued individuals were wearing life jackets. They were transported to North West Regional Hospital for treatment after spending several hours in the water and are reported to be uninjured.
Authorities believe all four occupants were ejected from the vessel around 9 PM yesterday when it broke apart. The search for the third adult is continuing. Assets involved include the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, marine rescue vessels, and private vessels.
