Arkansas Razorbacks Head to Sweet 16 After Victory Over High Point

The No. 4-seeded Arkansas Razorbacks secured a 94-88 victory over the No. 12-seeded High Point Panthers in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday night.

The win sends Arkansas to the Sweet 16 in San Jose, California, where they will compete on Thursday against the winner of Sunday’s matchup between Arizona and Utah State.

Razorbacks' Star Power Shines

Darius Acuff Jr. led Arkansas with 36 points and six assists, supported by Meleek Thomas who contributed 19 points. Acuff Jr., named SEC player of the year and freshman of the year, also broke the school's single-season scoring record.

High Point's Valiant Effort

High Point's Rob Martin scored 30 points, five assists, and four rebounds, while Cam’Ron Fletcher added 25 points. High Point had previously upset fifth-seeded Wisconsin in the first round. The game featured 15 lead changes and six ties, with Arkansas maintaining a narrow lead at halftime, 43-42.

Arkansas coach John Calipari acknowledged the confidence of Acuff and Thomas, stating they are “special.” High Point coach Flynn Clayman expressed pride in his team's performance, noting they competed effectively against the SEC champions and advanced in the tournament.
