GENEVA – The World Health Organization (WHO) stated on March 22, 2026, that military actions near nuclear facilities in Iran and Israel have escalated the Middle East conflict to a critical stage.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus urged all involved parties to exercise military restraint and prevent actions that could result in nuclear incidents. This statement was shared on the social media platform X.
Ghebreyesus noted that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is investigating reports of strikes. These incidents are reported to have occurred near the Natanz nuclear enrichment facility in Iran and the Dimona nuclear facility located in southern Israel.
