Zeekr Details Ambitious Australian Market Expansion Through 2027

Zeekr has confirmed its future vehicle plans for the Australian market, detailing an expanded range of models and updates to existing vehicles by 2027. Frank Li, Zeekr's local Managing Director, indicated that several new models would launch this year and next, setting the stage for significant expansion.

2026 Zeekr X Facelift

The Zeekr X, initially launched in Australia in late 2024, is scheduled to receive a significant update in the first half of this year. According to Mr. Li, this facelift will introduce improvements in battery technology and interior features, along with new color options.

The facelift for the Zeekr X promises enhancements in battery technology, interior features, and new color options.

An updated version already available in China features an overhauled interior with a more practical console design, new seat and door trims, and fold-up rear seats for increased cargo space. Details on which specific features will arrive in Australia are pending.

2026 Zeekr 009 Grand

The luxury electric people mover, Zeekr 009, will introduce a new range-topping variant in the second half of this year. This four-seater model, known as the 009 Grand in China, is designed to be highly luxurious.

Positioned as a direct competitor to luxury vehicles like the Lexus LM, the Zeekr 009 Grand is a four-seater model emphasizing opulence.

It features a high-end interior setup with a large entertainment screen separating the front and rear compartments. The Chinese market model also includes gold badgework and chrome-style wheels. Its pricing relative to the Lexus LM Ultra Luxury (A$223,520) for the Australian market has not yet been confirmed.

Future Models (2027)

Mr. Li confirmed that three additional models — the 7GT, 9X, and 8X — are slated for arrival next year. The specific launch order and timing for these models have not been finalized.

2027 Zeekr 8X

The Zeekr 8X, a large SUV, is set to challenge premium competitors such as the Range Rover Sport and Audi Q6. Recently launched in China, it is expected to offer a compelling blend of luxury and value, featuring a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain.

This advanced system combines a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine (205kW) with electric motors. It achieves a combined output of 660kW in a dual-motor configuration or an astonishing 1080kW in a top-spec tri-motor setup, allowing a 0-100km/h sprint in as little as 3.7 seconds.

Its plug-in hybrid powertrain offers immense power, reaching up to 1080kW in a tri-motor setup, enabling a 0-100km/h sprint in just 3.7 seconds.

The 8X will offer two EV battery options, 55.1kWh or 70kWh, utilizing a 900-volt architecture enabling a 10-80 percent charge in just 9 minutes with compatible chargers. EV range is stated as 256km or 328km, with a combined range of 1416km (Chinese specifications).

2027 Zeekr 9X

The 9X, a flagship three-row SUV, is also planned for the Australian market. Measuring 5239mm in length and over two meters wide, it is comparable in size to models such as the Audi Q7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS.

With a length of 5239mm, the 9X rivals luxury giants like the Audi Q7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS in sheer presence.

It shares styling cues with the 8X but features a larger, more angular design with additional chrome embellishments. The Chinese market version offers an ultra-luxurious six-seat configuration, including reclining and rotating second-row captain's chairs. It shares its peak powertrain with the 8X, featuring a 2.0-liter plug-in hybrid system with a 1030kW output and a 70kWh battery, providing a 9-minute charging time and 1250km combined driving range. The starting price in China for the 9X is equivalent to A$100,000.

2027 Zeekr 7GT

The Zeekr 7GT, an electric wagon with Euro-styled performance, has been showcased in Australia previously. Its arrival timing relative to the 8X and 9X is subject to headquarters' decision in China.

Boasting an 800-volt battery system, the 7GT offers an impressive driving range of up to 825km and a blistering 0-100km/h acceleration in just 2.95 seconds.

The 7GT features an 800-volt battery system, offering up to 825km of driving range (CTLC cycle with a 100kWh battery pack) and a 0-100km/h acceleration in 2.95 seconds. It aims to compete directly with European performance vehicles. Interior features are expected to include luxury trims, advanced software, and cabin technology. Powertrain options include a 310kW rear-wheel-drive variant and a 475kW all-wheel-drive variant, complemented by air suspension and adaptive damping. Zeekr has provided less information on the sedan variant (007 in China), suggesting a potential wagon-only lineup for Australia.
